  1. A hard disk in computing, is a storage device 
  2. usually consisting of a rigid metal disk 
  3. coated with a magnetic material. Data are 
  4. read from and written to the disk by means of 
  5. a disk drive. The hard disk may be 
  6. permanently fixed into the drive or in the 
  7. form of a disk pack that can be removed and 
  8. exchanged with a different pack.
